Taking a closer look at the events that led to the sealing up of Havillah Event Centre, one cannot help but notice the several missteps of Erelu Chidinma Pearl Ogbolu.
What could have been a very beautiful handshake across the Niger by an honourable Western monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Tokunbo Okikiola Tejuosho, Olu, Orile, Kemta, turned out to be an embarrassment.
He had shown how cosmopolitan a leader should be by honouring not only a citizen of another tribe, but a young woman.
Oba Tejuosho, knowing how very different the Igbo tradition is from that of the Yoruba, handed the new Erelu to a trusted female royal aide with the brief to thoroughly onboard her.
The introduction and announcement of the honour had all the trappings of a well travel king.
Sadly, Erelu Chidinma failed to effectively plan the installation after-party.
She had petrol loaded in the boot of her Range Rover jeep and instructed her aides to discharge the highly flammable liquid into plastic kegs, right within the car pack of Havillah Event Centre in the peak of the midday sunshine.
As little as a key dropping from any of those charged with the dangerous responsibility could have caused a spark and then, an explosion and within seconds, the entire premises and neighbourhood would have turned gun up in uncontrollable flames.
Erelu Pearl Chidinma then took the danger into the crowded venue of the party with just two exit doors to run out from in case of disaster. There was also, only one gate out of the premises.
Sadly, party lovers did not take note of the danger that surrounded them. Many had queued many days, for hours in the last one month and were not thinking.
Petrol has turned to gold as even the celebrity Fuji musician asked for his own share in-between songs. He forgot that a spark from any of his music instruments, connected to electricity could have taken him out within seconds.
While the celebration drums beat and the tempo of the music got to its peak, Chidinma and her billionaire friends from the West and the East of Nigeria, displayed their wealth in cash.
She danced regally as the gorgeous royalty she had become.
The ‘money bags’ sprayed bundles of mint Naira notes and danced on them like there was no tomorrow. They had all conquered money. The legal tender was under their feet while the kegs and fumes of petrol pervaded the atmosphere.
Angels were truly on guard for every guest as they all came away unscathed considering the innocent missteps of the new Lagos chief.
Would federal government financial regulatory agencies go after the money bags after their host is done explaining herself in Lagos ?
