The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi says the present government of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has not met its campaign promises especially bordering on security.
Fayemi, who is also the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), while speaking with Channels Television’s Maope Ogun-Yussuf on ‘Hard Copy’ listed a number of promises made that have not been fulfilled
He said that Nigeria’s governance decay dates back to the days of Military rule but maintained that as the government of the day, the present administration of his principal, President Muhammadu Buhari has not met the expectations of Nigerians.
He pointed out however, that the government of the day should not be held wholly responsible for the state of affairs in the country.
According to him, “There is no doubt that we are not in the best of shape we should be. We can do better than we are currently...We are the elected authority so we have to take responsibility for it, there’s no question about that.
“I’m not going to shy away from the expectations people had before we came into office. I as a leading player in the campaign that brought my principal (Buhari) to power.
“We promised Nigerians quite a number of things, particularly entering on security, anti-corruption and on economic growth. Have we been able to attain all of what we promised ? Obviously not.”
