Victor O. Abakpa, counsel to Peter Nwachukwu, late singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu has told journalists that “the world will soon know the truth” about her death.
He said this in reaction to reports accusing his client of killing his wife, the late gospel singer.
Abakpa’s reaction came on Friday after the Federal Capital Territory High Court adjourned to June 16 and 17 for the trial of Peter Nwachukwu.
He has been arraigned on a 23-count-charge bordering on domestic violence and homicide.
Justice N K Nwosu-Iheme, on Friday also ordered that the accused be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Facility.
Victor said that since his client has pleaded not guilty, the world will soon find out the truth.
“Surely justice will prevail, the world will come to know the truth. We cannot say more than that.
“You heard he pleaded not guilty, that’s our position for now until the case is proved otherwise,”the lawyer stated.
The suspect, who was handcuffed after the court rose, pleaded with the press that his wife died of cancer.
He also accused his in-laws of lying against him.
Nwachukwu’s wife Osinachi died on April 8. Her family and many of her colleagues accused her husband of subjecting the deceased to an endless domestic violence which eventually led to her death.
