As part of the celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary on October 1, Tinubu announced that his administration would soon reveal the recipients of the national honours for 2024.
He confirmed that Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Chief Justice of the Federation Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun have been awarded the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).
He also listed other recipients to include the Deputy Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The statement outlined the following honors: “In keeping with tradition, the government will shortly announce all the beneficiaries of our national honors for 2024. The Senate President and the Chief Justice of the Federation have been conferred with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON). The Deputy Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives have received the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), while the Deputy Speaker of the House has been awarded the Commander of the Order of Niger (CON).”
