Tinubu Meets Governors of States Sharing Borders with Niger Republic

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday, August 3, held a meeting with Nigerian Governors sharing boundaries with Niger Republic after his proposal to the National Assembly to send troupes for a military intervention was turned down.

Governors of Sokoto, Kebbi, Yobe, Katsina, and Jigawa, attended the meeting which held at the presidential villa in Abuja.

Details of the meeting are not yet known but it is speculated to be part of the wider consultations by the president on the political tension in Niger.

It also coincided with the deadline from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to the Nigerien military to reinstate deposed President Mohamed Bazoum.
