The body of Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot, Tolulope Arotile has been laid to rest at the Military Cemetary in Abuja.
She was laid to rest at a ceremony that commenced at about 8:38am.
Flying Officer Arotile’s body was conveyed to the burial ground in an ambulance with registration Number AF 442 belonging the Nigerian Air Force.
Late Flying Officer Arotile’s casket was accompanied by a deployment of heavily armed military men including the guards brigade.
There was palpable grieve in the atmosphere as all attendees wore mournful looks and hardly spoke.
A few weeks back, Tolulope was knocked down by an old school mate, Nehemiah Adejoh who reversed a car on her, knocking her down. The accident which happened at the Nigerian Air Force Base, Kaduna resulted in fatal head injuries and broken limbs.
Nigerians have continued to mourn the death of one its most promising military officers.
Arotile will be remembered for her galant efforts at fighting insurgency and banditry in the Northern parts of Nigeria. The presidency as well the the military and colleagues her have commiserated with her family and the Nigerian Air Force.
Social media fans have not ceased to send tributes to one of Nigeria’s best as she is laid to rest today.
