There was huge fire as a tanker exploded at the Ibrahim Babangida Boulevard, Kuto, Abeokuta this afternoon close to Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB).
The fire from the explosion burnt and killed passers-by, hawkers and vehicles with occupants according to eye-witnesses.
Workers and customers in the GT Bank banking hall were also burnt beyond recognition according to eyewitnesses.
Some passers by who ran towards the flames out of curiosity to personally assess the situation were also caught in the fast rising fire.
Eye-witnesses say there are several fire stations not too far from the scene of the explosion but none turned up early enough to fight the raging flames.

One in Oke-Itoku and the other in Navy secondary school Adigbe both about 10 minutes drive to that location. But there’s high probability the workers are being owned salary (no motivation) or no water.
Reports say survivors have been taken to near by hospitals.
