25 children aged between 5 and 6 have died following a fire outbreak in their straw-hut classroom in Niger Republic.
Reports say the fire broke out on Monday morning killing the 25 toddlers and injuring many others while the day’s lessons were going on.
As at the time of filing this report, it is not yet known what caused the fire.
An eyewitness told BBC that they saw several lifeless bodies being carried out from the incident scene while several children with various degrees of injuries were placed in vehicles to be taken to the government hospital in the town.
Many of those who were injured are said to be in critical conditions.
Classes have subsequently been suspended and the school shut down.
