There was an accident involving two trailers on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway this morning.
The accident has caused a massive traffic gridlock on the Kara axis inward Ibadan. It involved a trailer whose breaks failed causing it to ram into a tanker loaded with petroleum gas.
Traffic gridlock which resulted has shut down traffic on Kara bridge.
Emergency services comprising the Federal Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Army and the police have reported to the scene and making frantic efforts to manage the traffic situation.
Some fatalities were reported but the number of deaths and injured are not yet ascertained.
Trailer accidents on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway are a regular occurrence especially on the Kara and Otedola bridge axis, in most cases, the accidents come with huge lose of lives and belongings.
The more recent incidents include 2 tankers laden with premium motor spirit which collided with each other. Another occurred on the 26th of February when a fuel tanker exploded.
Another accident involving yet another trailer happened on the 12th of February when a fully loaded truck lost control and skidded off the road leading to a he traffic build up.
The prompt build up of traffic is alluded to the ongoing road construction on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway which causes intermittent closures of several sections of the bridge.
