Nigerians have reacted to the “Award of Contract” for the Construction of Friday Mosque by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Bauchi State.
Senator Dino Melaye as well as many other Nigerians have questioned the rational behind the project estimated at N30 million.
Others demanded to know the business an Agriculture Ministry has with a housing or religious project. They also expect to see the same gesture extended to traditional and Christian worship houses.
Posting the letter dated 10th December, 2020 on his social media pages, Senator Dino Melaye. (SDM)@dino_melaye· asked, “What!!!!! Despite all the challenges facing food security, building a mosque is the FederalMinistry of Agriculture’s priority! To pray for Rain or what? How did we get here for Heaven sake. What has Government got to do with churches or mosque?“
Public reactions:
David Hundeyin@DavidHundeyin· “I’m just interested in knowing how much taxpayers money the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development @FmardNg spends on funding construction of Ifa temples and Christian churches, since building mosques is apparently part of its remit. At least let the stupidity be fair.“
Grand Oleesa@LeMonsieurGrand· Replying @FmardNg “Construction of the Mosques isn’t my primary issue, the primary issue is what business does “Animal Husbandry Services” have to do with construction? Or is cow dung the new cement?“
“If funding religious centres has something to do with “rural development” there is arguably more of an argument for funding construction of African Traditional Religion shrines and temples, because the rural areas is where ATR adherents live. So why is @FmardNg building mosques?
