Trump Appoints Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy to Lead Department of Government Efficiency

US President-elect, Donald Trump, has appointed tech billionaire Elon Musk and conservative activist Vivek Ramaswamy to head a new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The department aims to reduce government bureaucracy, eliminate excess regulations, cut wasteful spending, and restructure federal agencies.

It will in addition, enhance transparency and create an entrepreneurial government approach.

In a statement, Trump described the initiative as potentially “The Manhattan Project” of modern times, referencing the ambitious scale of the effort. He emphasized the importance of restructuring government operations to ensure efficiency, partnering with the White House and the Office of Management & Budget to implement reforms.

Reacting to his appointment, promised full transparency in the department’s operations, stating that all actions would be posted online for public scrutiny.

He also joked about creating a “leaderboard” to highlight the most wasteful spending, aiming to provide both transparency and accountability. Musk underscored the urgency of the task, stressing that either the government becomes more efficient or America faces financial ruin.

The duo is expected to complete their work by July 4, 2026, the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

This new initiative reflects Trump’s ongoing commitment to reducing the size and scope of the federal government while focusing on fiscal responsibility.

The Department of Government Efficiency is set to be a cornerstone of Trump’s broader plan to reform government operations and prioritize spending cuts.
