The twins abducted about a week ago in Oyo State have now been released.

The pair of very young male and female twins, are reported to be the children of an Islamic cleric, Alhaji Taofeeq Akewugbagold.

Akeugbagold is the former Chairman of the Oyo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board

The toddlers, Walfiq and Walfiqoh were abducted from their parents’ home at about 8:00 pm, 25th April at Ajoo in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Akeugbagold had told newsmen that the kidnappers demanded N55 million. However, it is uncertain if any money was eventually paid to secure their release as the Police Public Relations Officer, Olugbenga Fadeyi, declined comments when asked.

Nonetheless, he said investigations are on to nab the abductors.
