The U S government has reportedly placed Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami on its terrorism watchlist.
According to Nigeria’s Independent Newspaper, and NewsWireNGR, the U S action action was taken due to the minister’s alleged ties with Boko Haram and Al-Qaeda.
Western Intelligences is said to also report that Pantami had ties with Abu Quatada al Falasimi and other Al-Qaeda leaders that he had enormous admiration for and spoke glowingly about in several of his YouTube videos.
The report added that the Minister was a close confident of the late Mohammed Yusuf, the former leader of Boko Haram with whom Pantami is reported to have shared jihadist ideologies.
A Middle Eastern Intelligence report which is is to have been corroborated by the Western Intelligence, there are currently trending, photographs of the Minister ad some jihadists.
In reaction, one of the aides of the minister described the allegations as false and baseless.
According to him, “you didn’t tell me you want to publish the stroppy when you introduced yourself. In the first place you did not address the Office of the Honourable Minister properly.
“This is a personal attack on somebody’s personal belief and religion.
“This allegation is not coming from the American government, but one useless organisation. I am a journalist myself.”

However, the first media house to carry the news in Nigeria, NewsWireNGR has retracted its publication, a development that drew the ire of Minister Isa Pantami.
