Uche Elendu and the Typical Igbo Dad

Uche Elendu and the Typical Igbo Dad

Entertainment

Delectable Nollywood actress, Uche Elendu gave “shallow-minded critics” a masterclass on vanity and the mindset of the average Igbo dad.

Elendu paints the picture of an assuming wealthy Igbo man in the showman city of Lagos. In Lagos, many billionaire Igbo business men are just satisfied with their wives and children dressed in trendy clothes and attending Ivy League schools.

Their joy is in the well-being of those put in their care. Many of them own chains of mansions in high brow Lekki, Festac, Ikeja, Satellite town etc. Curiously, they do not revel in ostentatious parties or any form of deliberate loud lifestyle. Their tenants do just that. Most of the tenants never get to see the landlords. Reason ? Because they hire the best property agents and legal representatives to handle such transactions.

Summer holidays are often spent overseas and while their wives and children go shopping designer things or sight-seeing, they simply use their absence to map out business strategies. Such, is the lesson many people have come to learn about these unusual breed of humans.

Bankers of most Igbo business men never cease to wonder what makes them so unassuming. Engage the Igbo man in intellectual discuss at your peril because you will come away not only schooled, but more foolish than you thought. Reason is that they are wired with the most intriguing intellect. In any case, count yourself lucky if he has the time to even welcome you into his intellectual space.

It is the same Igbo men that train chains of kinsmen for a few years and set up well funded business for them in appreciation of their stewardship. The average Igbo man is also a master in business knowledge transfer.

Uche Elendu no doubt grew up under the watch of such a father. In appreciation, she celebrated Father’s Day with a sweet message to her Igbo dad.

She posted a picture of her father in regular stay at home clothes and some social media users berated her for parading what they term a poor dad.

According to Uche:

“Happy Father’s Day to my Sugar rush, my No 1 fan, my driving force, my britico, my first love..your simplicity, wealth of knowledge and humility has thought me a lot. May God bless you for all you do for me and my siblings. You’re the best father in the entire universe.. You surely will reap the fruits of your labour dad. I love you.

Seeing the post and pictures of Uche’s typical Igbo dad, @evaike31 lashed at her for “living fake life on Instagram while at home nothing. You claimed your dad is a reach man with this compound I m seeing ?”

Trust Uche to hit back:

“@evaike31 which compound are you seeing ?? You’re a big FOOL…Do you know what a countryside home looks like ? With very fertile trees, very massive compound and fresh air ?? Oh no you don’t cos all your life you’ve squatted in a face me I slap you cubicle and you will die poor.

@pam-ignatius lent voice to evaike31:

“Hmmmmm this is wickedness nah with all the money you have us dad is looking like a gateman.”

@ucheelendu gave it back to@pam_ignatiusn:

“people’s fathers work as gate men and use it to feed their families so that’s not a bad one but you know what ? As far as this instagram is concerned, I curse you, you will never win any giveaway not even N500 giveaway so that hunger will Destroy you and your family.”

There were so many more negative comments but Uche Elendu gave a most striking summary of her opinion:

“Let me be petty for once and address comments since it has to do with my precious Dad, my only ATM. As an Igbo girl, I cannot watch you insult my source.

“Instagram people and their fake life mentality, that’s why they will keep showing you what you want to see so that when you’re pushed to fit in, you will enter EFCC or police or babalawo trap, and they will still mock you.

“So I posted a pic I forced my dad to take while seeing me off to leave after my Father’s Day visit to my family home and someone said “Uche don’t tell me that’s your dad with all the money you have”😳😳😳😳🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Me that I am still paying rent ??? which money do I have ?

“My dad might be your landlord if you live in Lagos oh ! Don’t be deceived. No be cloth day worry big man. Ask any legit big man you know.

” you want an almost 90 years old man to wear Agbada and sit at home 🤪🤪🤪 odikwaegwu.”
