The UK Parliament has condemned the killings of unarmed protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate on Tuesday in Lagos, Nigeria.
Scores of protesters were reported massacred yesterday when men in Nigerian Army uniform invaded their peaceful gathering shooting directly at them.
In its reaction to the attack on Wednesday, a member of the UK Parliament expressed horror at the killings.
He insists that the incident must be addressed within the shortest tine possible.
His submission comes on the backdrop of the strong relationship between the UK and Nigeria.
According him:
“I just want to mention briefly, the shocking scenes of brutality and violence we’ve seen at the Lekki toll plaza and obviously I hope that the Minister can perhaps share with us the government response to those scenes.
“Not least because of the strong relationship that we have with Nigeria, including with the military and security forces there.
“Amnesty International has said there is credible evidence of excessive force leading to the deaths of protesters.
Besides the UK, The killings have also been condemned by the former US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton and Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate, Joe Biden..
Posting the information on his official Twitter handle, Reno Omokri said that “UK Parliament House of Commons condemns the killing of unarmed, peaceful #EndSARS protesters by General Muhammadu Buhari’s forces.”
