UNILAG Mourns Again as Another Professor Dies of COVID19

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) was again thrown into mourning as another professor dies of Covid19.

News of Professor Duro Ajeyalemi death broke this morning leaving the institution in total shock.

Late Ajeyalemi retired from UNLAG at the age of 70. He was Dean of the Faculty of Education and pioneer registrar of the Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB).

Folasade Ogunsola, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Development Services told newsmen the institution’s management was “again shocked to receive the news of the death of another great scholar.”

According to her, “It is true, Professor Ajeyalemi is dead. We are still in shock. Nigerians should know that COVID19 is real and they should please use their masks appropriately.”

Reports say the late lecturer died at the isolation centre at the University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, Lagos.

Professor Ajelayemi is said to be the third prominent indigene of Ijesha in Osun East Senatorial District to die of covid19 recently.

Others are Professors Femi Odekunle and Oye Ibidapo.

Professor of Medical Microbiology admonished Nigerians to “know that social parties can wait. We must wear our masks and avoid crowed spaces. We must also sanitise properly.

“Covid19 is real and we must be appropriately guided,” she said.
