Unknown gunmen have kidnapped the traditional ruler of Eganyi in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State, Alhaji Mohammed Adembe.
The kidnapping of the Adogu was disclosed to newsmen by the police spokesperson in the state, DSP William Aya.
According to him, Adembe was kidnapped at about 5:20pm along the Okene-Eganyi Road.
He said that the traditional ruler was returning to his community from Okene when he was abducted.
“His car slowed down at one of the potholes on the road, the gunmen emerged from a nearby bush and started shooting sporadically into the air, thereby forcing him to a stop.
“Other occupants of the vehicle were spared as the gunmen matched only the traditional ruler into the bush,” Aya said.
The police spokesman added that security operatives were already combing the surrounding area and the bush to rescue the victim and return him to his community.
