A meeting described by President @MBuhari‘s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmed as unusual has been convened in the Aso Rock villa.
The meeting which is to be hosted via virtual means has in attendance, President Muhammadu Buhari and former Heads of State, Yakubu Gowon, Ernest Shonekan, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Olusegun Obasanjo, Ernest Shonekan and Goodluck Jonathan.
The President is presiding over the meeting from the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa..
Attendees are believed to principally address issues bordering on the security situation in the country.
Equally in attendance are the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd), Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olanisakin.
Also in the meeting are the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, Director-General Deparment of State Service, Yusuf Bichi, and Director General National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Rufai among others.
There have been rising tensions following protests by Nigerian youths against the brutality meted out to them by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad as well as the Federal SARS.
Suspected Army officers unleashed terror on the unarmed youths, firing live bullets from sophisticated military weapons on Tuesday, 20th October.
The Army high command has however denied involvement in the attack but the incident led to looting, arson and jail brakes across many cities in the country.
President Buhari, in a nationwide broadcast yesterday appealed for calm while listing all his administration is doing to make life better for the common man.
