Relationships

Lara Wise, a Nigerian journalist, has debunked the news that Barrister Sonnie Bassey, the man whose wife died weeks ago while chasing him and his “side chick” is dead.

News broke on Monday morning that Mr. Bassey died in Calabar, Cross River State after being in coma since receiving news of his wife’s death.

An apparent close friend, Lara Wise wrote, “It’s a wild rumour. He is not dead. I just spoke with his friend,” Wise wrote on her verified Facebook page.

Barristers Sonnie and late Claret Bassey are said to have 3 children together.

Claret, also a lawyer, died in a crash while chasing her husband who reportedly fled when she saw him with his alleged lover on September 18. The story went viral at the time.
