The US has removed the payment of reciprocity visa fees for Nigerian applicants seeking to travel to that country..
The information is contained in a press release published 4th of December, 2020, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and signed by the spokesperson Ferdinand Nwoye.
According to Nwoye, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that United States government has removed all visa reciprocity fees for Nigerian Citizens seeking visas to the United States.
The statement further reads that “The positive development is in line with the removal of excess visa application, processing and biometric fees for United States citizens applying for Nigerian visas by the Nigerian government.
Surprisingly, the news has not attracted the kind of public attention that the imposition of the reciprocity fees did when they were slammed on travellers of both countries by both governments.
Reactions from the public:
Ampharsh@Ampharsh· Replying to @NigeriaMFA “And to say this is not trending compared to when the initial payment news first broke out, Like They Say In The Journalist/Media Circle, “Good News Dont Sell Fast Like Sectional News”
Nick@sl33knick· “Well, if they had acted as acted when they ought to, the reciprocity fee wouldn’t have been imposed by the US in the first place”

That’s because the US Embassy are likely to loose a lot of visa application fees if they continue with the reciprocating fee. They think they can just wake up one morning and starts imposing policies on every country. Though it’s the bad leadership we have that emanate to such drastic measures. I can tell you whole hearted The US makes a lot of visa application fee from Nigeria than any other African Country. Statistic has proved that severally.
