The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba has ordered the transfer to Abuja of the case of murder of Super TV CEO, Usifo Ataga.
The transfer which is with immediate effect means that the prime suspect, 21-year-old University of Lagos undergraduate, Chidinma Ojukwu will also be taken to Abuja.
The IGP has moved the case over to Force Criminal Investigation Department for more investigation and prosecution.
SaharaReporters quotes a top source as saying that, “The IGP has approved the transfer of Usifo Ataga’s murder case to Abuja. It will be handled by the FCID,”
The move by the IGP comes a few days after the Ataga family engaged the services of a senior lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) to ensure that their son gets the justice he deserves.
Ataga is alleged to have been murdered in an AirBnB short-let apartment in Lagos. His remains were discovered in a pool of his blood, a few days after he was declared missing by his family.
The Lagos State Police Command who discovered the corpse said that it had multiple knife stabs.
The alleged mistress, Chidinma Ojukwu had fled the scene, taking handy valuables including his ATM card with which she confirmed withdrawing N380,000.
She initially confessed to newsmen that she committed the murder under the influence of alcohol and hard drugs but late recanted, saying she took responsibility as there was no one else at the scene and nobody could have believed otherwise.
