Valedictorian and Head Girl Who Wept That Her Parents Could No Longer Fund Her School Fees, Gets Scholarship

The head girl and valedictorian of a primary school, Wasilat Bashiru, who broke down in tears because her parents could no longer fund her school fees beyond primary school has received help.

The little girl was so depressed that she struggled to read her valedictory speech. She later revealed to Kayode, the Master of Ceremony that her parents could not even afford to rent her graduation gown but the school assisted her.

They were also unable to pay their transport fare to the school leaving her all alone on her big day.

The 11-year-old is the graduating head girl of of God’s Light Group of Schools, Oyo town, Oyo state.

Moved by her plight, the MC, Oluwakayode posted Bashiru’s story on the microblogging platform, Twitter, stressing that the young girl was at a point where she would halt her educational pursuits.

Moved by the story, a Nigerian woman and her husband took her case on and promised to sponsor her through school.

The woman, Oluwafunmi made this known via Twitter, as she noted that Wasilat deserves an opportunity to shine bright.

She tweeted: “Myself and my hubby @DeleMotors will take over funding her education. She deserves to have a brilliant future. Kayode pls send me a dm lets get the ball roll!! We rise by lifting other.
