A video footage of the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, at the premises of the Economic and Finacial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja on Tuesday has emerged.
The 37-year-old minister arrived at the Headquarters of the EFCC in Abuja and will meet with the investigators to make clarifications over the alleged signed order to pay N585.189 million grant meant for vulnerable groups in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ogun, and Lagos states into a private account.
The anti-graft agency invited Edu to its headquarters on Monday following a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Having suspended her, the presidency withdrew her access to Aso Rock Villa, the nation’s seat of power and ordered an investigation into the allegation against her.
She was also reported to have been denied audience with the president.
Presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale said in a statement on Monday that Edu’s suspension is in line with President Tinubu’s avowed commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in the management of the commonwealth of Nigerians.
