The village head of a community in Adamawa State alongside residents have fled their homes after 7 witches were allegedly killed.

The 7 people were accused of witchcraft in Dasin Bwate village in Fufore Local Government Area.

Confirming the development on Wednesday in Yola, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the State, Sulaiman Nguroje said that an investigative team has been deployed to the village.

He added that the team found the corpses of the unidentified persons in the incident which occurred in one of the houses in the village on Tuesday.

Nguroje reports that, “Seven people were killed in Dasin Bwate village in Fufore LGA over witchcraft allegation.

“The police have deployed investigation team into the village.”

He added that their investigations were however, made difficult by the total absence of residents of the community.

According to him, by the time they arrived, the village head and all residents had fled and so no arrest could be made.

The PPRO urged members of the neighbouring communities to volunteer information that will aid the investigation into the matter.

“We are calling on the neighbouring villages to assist the police with useful information on the whereabouts of the residents of Dasin Bwate, he said”
