Villagers Set Bonfires, Protest Incessant Bandits Attacks (video)

In response to a string of bandit attacks in their communities, residents of Wurna village in Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State set bonfires and obstructed the Katsina-Dutsinma highway on Friday.

The protest left several travelers stranded as some vehicles were forced to reroute through bush paths connecting Dutsinma to other parts of the state.

Efforts by Daily Post to reach the Katsina State Police Command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, for comments on the development, proved abortive as at press time.

However, a resident of the village, who identified himself simply as Abdulkarim, told The Nation that the community has been plagued by incessant bandit attacks for the past four days, leaving the people in a perpetual state of unrest.

Security operatives are currently on ground to restore normalcy in the area and forestall a breakdown of law and order.
