Reports say there are gunshots and chaos at Orlu in Imo State.
The reports say the clash is between the recently formed Eastern Security Network (ESN), the police and the military.
According to PDP chieftain and former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, deaths have also been recorded.
He however, wishes his in-laws well and advises them to stay safe.
Femi Fani-Kayode@realFFK· “The clash between soldiers and members ESN in Orlu, Imo state today has resulted in some deaths & this is unfortunate. I call for restraint on both sides. The soldiers ought to be deployed against killer herdsmen and not ESN. When will Buhari learn. Chidera Agu please stay safe.”
Raphael Uzoma gives a more detailed account of events leading to the violence. In response to inquiries by @MrOdanz, “Soldiers with about two hilux vans went to a beer parlor and were assaulting some men about four of them. So they retailated injuring one of the soldiers who happened to be a captain.
“So the soldiers shot one of the men killing him instantly and they (the soldiers) left there. Coming back again with two vans and two hilux again about 9:15pm shooting sporadically in the air but met with resistance from ESN. Then they came back this morning now with more than ten vans from obinze barracks assaulting anyone on the road shooting straight at us.”
A woman was hit and lay in the pool of her own blood.
Somto Okonkwo@General_Somto·, on his part, laments that “The People Of Orlu Can’t Go To Their Farm Lands Because Of Constant Attacks, Raping & Killings By Armed Fulani Herdsmen Who Have Forcefully Occupied Their Lands. Instead Of Coming To Their Recuse, The Governor Of Imo State Hope Uzodimma Sent The Military To Kill Orlu Indigenes.”
