Violence broke out at the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections on Friday.
An eyewitness reports that the incident happened at Otukpa, the headquarters of the Ogbadibo Local Government Area, as angry APC members directed their frustrations at the state Chairman Austin Agada to send a message to the party’s leadership.
Austin Agada was said to have narrowly escaped being lynched when angry APC members descended on him in protest over irregularities.
Agada is from Ogbadibo LGA, where he was manhandled by irate APC members in a mob-style for saying that there was an election in Benue South Senatorial District of the state.
In a video, which has gone viral, fisticuffs ensued as the state APC Chairman tried to convince the members that the primaries took place.
Members of the APC were heard yelling at Agada to present result sheets and electoral documents to prove where the primaries were held. While attempting to explain himself, the enraged members swarmed him, with gunshots heard and people fleeing for safety.
