Nigeria’s tightened insecurity has assumed an alarming proportion as communities continue to experience violent attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen, unknown gunmen and in some cases government security agents.
Among the many officially recorded violent attacks are:
- Soldiers invading an IPOB Lawyer’s house at 2:30am Sunday night. Reports say he has been taken to an undisclosed location.
- Suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded Igngan, Ibarapa, Oyo State killing and burning properties in the midnight raid.
- Suspected Fulani herders invaded Benue communities, killing and maiming through Saturday versus Sunday night.
Governor Seyi Makinde@seyiamakinde lamented the development and appealed to the residents to remain calm as his government works to bring the situation under control.
According to him, “I have received the shocking news of the attacks on residents of Igangan, Ibarapaland, in the early hours of this morning. I am currently being briefed on the incidents. I urge residents to remain calm as security operatives are now in control of the situation.“
