FrieslandCampina WAMCO, a Dutch owned multinational products company., has acquired Nutricima dairy business in Nigeria.
Mrs Ore Famurewa, Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria gave the information in Lagos, on Tuesday, 29th of September.
She said that WAMCO and PZ Cussons signed the acquisition agreement in March and that Nutricima’s dairy business would be integrated into FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC.
According to Famurewa, “FrieslandCampina WAMCO has acquired the company’s production facility in Ikorodu, Lagos State and the Olympic, Coast and Nunu brands, a range of powdered, evaporated and ready to drink milk products.
“These brands have a good presence across Nigerian dairy market.”
Famurewa is also of the opinion that the acquisition satisfies the needed additional production capacity for FrieslandCampina WAMCO in its quest to contribute to the development of the Nigerian dairy sector.
She added that the new development will help Nigeria meet the growing demand for locally produced evaporated milk.
Speaking further, the Executive Director said that “Having fulfilled all requirements, including requisite stakeholders and regulatory approvals, FrieslandCampina WAMCO has commenced operations at the newly acquired plant.”
Famurewa quoted Roel Van Neerbos, President, FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy as saying that “FrieslandCampina WAMCO has been a key player in Nigeria since 1954.
“With this acquisition, we demonstrate our strong commitment to Nigeria and its dairy market.”
Speaking about the company in Nigeria, Ben Langat, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria said that “it is our mission to bring affordable and attainable quality dairy products to all Nigerians and meet the growing demand.
“That’s why we ae pleased with this acquisition.”
