The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has notified the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike that the All Progressives Congress (APC) awaits him as he is destined to be in the party.

Gbajabiamila made the call to Wike on Friday in Port Harcourt while speaking at the commissioning of the official quarters built for members of the Rivers State House of Assembly by the Governor.

The Speaker noted that he was optimistic that very soon the state lawmakers and the Governor will all dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the APC.

In his words, “I believe that when the governor finally chokes them, the members of the state assembly will be coming with him to where he is destined to be. We await you, your excellency, and very eagerly too.”

Since the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the 2023 presidential candidate, PDP has been thrown into a crisis.

In what was thought to be a landslide victory for Wike at the primary election, Aminu Tambuwal stepped down and asked his supporters to channel their votes to Atiku.

The Rivers State Governor then came second while the former vice president was announced winner and the party’s flag bearer.

The crisis in the PDP was compounded when during the search for a running mate, Wike, the nominee most preferred by chieftains of the opposition party as Atiku’s running was ignored and the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa chosen.

The development is said to have created deep gulfs within the PDPand in spite of the fact that the party is working to resolve the crisis, the situation so far remains unsolved.
