Concerned about the controversy surrounding President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s academic records from Chicago State University (CSU), Ide Goddy Uwazurike, President of the Cultural Credibility Development Initiative (CCDI), has noted what will happen if the Supreme Court does not remove the president.
Uwazurike insists that the critical issue is whether Tinubu presented a forged or genuine degree certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Following the insistence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the February 25, 2023 presidential election, CSU released the President’s academic records.
While President Tinubu initially objected to the release of the records, a federal judge ordered CSU to make them public. Uwazurike pointed out that regardless of whether the Supreme Court decides to remove Tinubu from office or not, the reputation of the presidency has already been tarnished by the controversy.
In an interview with The Sun, Uwazurike stated that it was not Atiku who presented the certificate in question, and other attempts to divert attention from the core issue are merely obfuscation.
According to him, the fact remains that CSU did not issue the degree certificate that Tinubu submitted to INEC, and while the process of presenting new evidence to the Supreme Court is challenging, the ultimate outcome is certainly uncertain.
Uwazurike stressed that the damage to the presidency’s reputation has already occurred, asserting, “Whether the Supreme Court removes Tinubu or not, the reputation of the presidency has been tainted.”
