A UK-based Nigerian pastor, Tobi Adegboyega, has given reasons why he hangs out with the secular artist, Davido.
The clergyman opened up during an interview with media entrepreneur, Chude Jideonwo.
Adegboyega, who has been in the news for different controversies expressed his fondness for pop culture and genuine love for Nigerian singer, Davido.
He further explained the video in which Davido was captured spraying money on him.
He noted that despite being a pastor, he is also allowed to be human and like other humans, he honoured an invitation by a pastor, in which Davido was invited and the singer saw him and decided to spray on him.
“But let me say to those that are saying I sprayed money on Davido, I love Davido and I think I’m still allowed to be human right? There are churches that invite pastors and give them honorarium.
“For me, our own honorarium is, a person comes all the way, I don’t know where David was coming from at the time, some other country, here’s that one of my pastors have a wedding and he decides to come. In our tradition, if you go to parties, people spray money maybe it’s the Yoruba culture, I don’t know if the Igbos or others do it but see they spray money so for me it wasn’t meant for the video. At the same time I also feel that those who hide are cowards because I know pastors in Africa who have big cars like Bentleys and all but they drive Toyota to church.
“No, I wasn’t showing off all the cars that lined up are our businesses and they’re people in the church who own the cars, who know that if I’m seeing taking photos or making videos of those cars, it promotes their businesses because business is how we survive, that’s all we do.”
