A bottle water seller who warmed the hearts of many after he was captured on camera as he gave money to prisoners has disclosed why he did it.
The young man who identified himself as Jeremiah was seen on Wednesday by Instagram user, Ojo Emmanuel giving out the meagre proceeds from his bottled water business to the prison inmates who were caught in traffic.
Emmanuel estimated that the generous giver gave away at least 70% of his money to the inmates who were confined to their van and sweating profusely in the hot sun.
Unknown to him, someone was watching and heaven was moved to reward him.
His heart of kindness drew not only Emmanuel’s attention, but that of everyone who watched the video.
Speaking to newsmen, the young man said he was not inspired by anything to give the prisoners money even if he is poor and suffering. He added that even in his condition, he still feels sorry for people in need and suffering.
According to him, “I gave the prisoners money out of pity. Though I am poor – and sell pure water, I still have my freedom, I can eat whatever I want to eat, go anywhere I want to go and sleep when I am tired. But the prisoners do not have that freedom.”
Gladly, Ojo Emmanuel has taken his bank account details, opened and instagram account for him and is set to present him to celebrities.
By Friday afternoon, the public had donated over N300,000 to the kind poor man.
