Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has declared that the defection of former Delta State Governor and 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a validation of his political choices in the last general election.
In a statement issued on Wednesday night by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike emphasized that Okowa’s move confirms the correctness of his refusal to back the PDP presidential flag bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in 2023.

According to the Minister, Okowa’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signifies a broader recognition of the administration’s performance.
“It is another endorsement of the president’s good governance and commitment to national development,” Wike stated.
According to Vanguard, he commended both Dr. Okowa and the current Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for what he described as a “heart-warming” decision.
He said their alignment with President Tinubu reflects a shared commitment to a united and progressive Nigeria.
Wike further urged other Nigerians who are undecided to rally behind the president, insisting that the ongoing support will ensure that regions like the Niger Delta receive greater dividends of democracy.
“I am particularly glad that what I saw before the 2023 presidential election, others are now seeing.
“They have joined the Renewed Hope train,” Wike remarked.
The defection of top Delta State leaders has stirred significant political reactions, with Senator Ned Nwoko already voicing disapproval of Governor Oborevwori’s entry into the APC.
Nonetheless, Wike maintains that the trend indicates growing faith in Tinubu’s leadership.
