The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano.
The 2-term Governor who earlier on Thursday, handed over to former Central Bank Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo was picked up at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Thursday night around 8.30pm.
The arrest which was confirmed by an EFCC source on conditions of anornimity was also announced by Channels TV news at 10:00pm.
According to the news station, Obiano was arrested on his way to Houston, Texas, the United States of America.
Another source said that, “EFCC today, March 17, 2022, picked up ex-governor Obiano of Anambra State.
“The former governor who has been on the Commission’s watchlist was arrested at the Murtala Mohammad International Airport Lagos at about 8.30pm as he prepared to board a flight to Houston, USA.”

Hamma@HAHayatu·This arrest of Obiano at airport reminds me of one cash officer that stole $150k, he booked Lagos – London flight, bank arranged SSS and police men to arrest him when he boards. The crook actually diverted them to airport, he left through border to Ghana then USA.
