It was a sober day for Afrobeat superstar, Wizkid and his siblings as they laid their mother Juliana Balogun to rest.
The funeral service was held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Dideolu Estate, off, Ligali Ayorinde St, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The singer’s mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, died on August 18, 2023.
Wizkid and his sisters, on Thursday, attended a candlelight service held in her honour at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, and Casino, 6-8 Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos.
High-profile persons, including clergymen, gathered at the church on Friday to commiserate with Wizkid’s family and bid the deceased farewell.

Meanwhile, speaking at the ceremony, an emotional Wizkid said, “I know everyone in my family shares this pain with me, and I know God in his infinite mercy is going to…it is impossible for the pain to go away, so I’m not going to say make the pain go away but to comfort us to be able to get on with the rest of life. God will comfort every one of us.”
Wizkid grew up in a polygamous home with a Muslim father and a Christian mother. His father married three wives.
Wizkid’s mother was born on July 14, 1957, and is survived by her husband, M.O Balogun, and four children, namely Yetunde Balogun, Omolara Osunkoya, Olubusayo Balogun, Ayodeji Balogun (Wizkid) and many grandchildren.
