A housewife in Ondo State, identified as Omolara Oluwakemi, had allegedly m*rdered her husband, Seidu Jamiu.
During the weekend, Oluwakemi is said to have smashed Jamiu’s head with a pestle while he was asleep in their residence at Akungba Akoko in Akoko North East Local Government Area of the state.
A family source who confirmed the incident said the couple are reported to have been living together for more than 7 years before the tragic incident.
The source claimed that the suspect picked the pestle at the backyard of their home with which she hit her husband on the head in the d3ad of night.
The source further disclosed that the couple had a misunderstanding over allegations of infidelity against the man, with his wife accusing him of not being faithful in the marriage and keeping a ‘side chic’.
He said: “Unfortunately, we learnt during the weekend that he had been killed by her wife. She was said to have used a pestle to smash him on the head. I was at the hospital and was moved to tears when I saw his corpse.”
Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust on the telephone.
She, however, could not confirm the claim that the woman murdered her husband, noting that the police have not made any arrest yet.
She said:
“I can’t confirm that the victim’s wife killed him because it was the woman who visited the station to also report the matter to us.
“We have not made any arrest now but investigation has begun to unravel the true state and position of the incident.”
