A woman discovered she was pregnant only 4 hours before she gave birth to her baby.
The thought of pregnancy was the last thing on the mind of 25-year-old Lorma Goodings as she assumed her baby bump was just bloating.
Her doctors also assumed the swollen stomach was as a result of a birth control device she had implanted.
Nonetheless, she did a pregnancy test in July 2021 when she was likely to have been as far gone as 38 weeks but the report turned out negative.
She did another test on the day of her delivery and yet again, the result was negative.
Lorna is said to have been at a friend’s party when she started feeling pain and was then rushed to the hospital only to discover she was in labour.
According to her, “When I went into labour, I was at a party with my friends and I was in pain all day.
“It got so bad that my friends took me to the hospital, and the medics told me I was 38 weeks pregnant and in labour. I couldn’t believe it.”
Lorna said that her partner, Nick Burdiak, 42 was also in shock. He is a machine operator and could not make it to the birth as he was also on a night out with his friends.
The mother of 2 said that she would never have thought she was pregnant because, “I had the contraceptive implant in October but started feeling really rubbish pretty soon after.
“I put on lots of weight, but I knew that was a side effect, so I didn’t think anything of it.”
She added that she kept struggling with an uncomfortable bloated stomach and so went to see her GP.
Lorna narrated how the doctor “Told me to keep going with the implant and thought it might be water retention, so they told me to try to lose weight.”
She said she started exercising and fasting intensly to push herself to lose weight on doctor’s advise but there were no improvements.
She now has 2 children within a 13-month gap.
