Woman kidnapped with Ekiti State Commissioner Regains Freedom

A woman that was kidnapped alongside Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture, Folorunso Olabode has been set free.

The woman and the commissioner were abducted on Sunday evening while travelling along the Isan-Iludun Road by yet to be identified gunmen.

An Ilejemeje councillor was shot dead at the scene of the incident by the armed bandits.

The commissioner’s family has been contacted by the kidnappers who requested a N30 million ransom. However, the family managed to negotiate the ransom to N15 million.

Spokesperson for Ekiti State Police Command, Sunday Abutu, confirmed the development in a chat with newsmen in Ado Ekiti today, 1st May.

The woman kidnapped with the commissioner, according to Abutu, was let off in a forest in Kwara State. However she managed to make her way to the road where she got help. Nonetheless, no information was given about the whereabouts of the commissioner .

According to the police spokesman, “She was released inside one forest somewhere in Kwara State and she was said to have found her way to the main road where se was helped.

“As of now, the commissioner is still with the kidnappers while the police and other security agencies are doing their best to bring him home safe and sound,” Abutu said.
