Protests today, rocked Katsina as women took to the streets to demand the immediate release of the abducted students of Government Science Secondary School.

The students were kidnapped from their school in Kankara, near Daura on Friday night by yet to be identified gunmen.

The women, leading the men from the front, stormed the school premises carrying placards with various inscriptions.

They also hit the streets of chanting the immediate and unconditional release of the young boys.

Some of the placards read: “Government must speak out,” “We want security in Kankara.

The State Governor had on the visit of the Federal Government, today 13th December, confirmed that contrary to the initial 600 students reported to have gone missing, only 333 are indeed missing.

The delegation was led by the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno.

The governor added that the school has a student population of 839.

According to him, “Based on available records, we are still searching for 333 students through either the forest or their parents to ascertain the actual number that have been kidnapped.
