The spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Dr Hakeem Baba Ahmed, has wondered why people consistently involve him with issues that do not concern him.
Ahmed wonders what he has to do with the person of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Gregory Obi. He said this while responding to a twitter user who had mentioned him in a response to a tweet by Peter Obi on the January 15, 1966, incident.
The date marked the beginning of military rule in Nigeria, following a coup staged by the late Lt Col JTU Aguiyi Ironsi.
The former Governor of Anambra, Peter Obi, in a remembrance post on his social media account on Sunday, noted that in 40 days time, Nigerians will be voting in a very crucial election that will determine its existence as a unified state.
A reply to this tweet mentioned Dr Hakeem Baba Ahmed noting that, “All those who have been crying for PO to denounce an inexistent biafran agenda before they give full support should come do so now. Starting from Baba Ahmed.”
However, the NEF spokesman in a response to this statement, wondered how Peter Obi’s tweet touched him.
“I have read what PO said, and how you interpret it. I am beginning to wonder whether some people cant sleep until they mention my name,” Dr Hakeem Baba Ahmed said.
Baba Ahmed had earlier called on Peter Obi’s supporters in the East to help end the violence in the region attributed to the IPOB, so that Peter Obi does not lose votes where he’s expected to be strong.
