Has anyone played Santa this Christmas ? Has any home been visited by Santa Clause ?
Has anyone on the streets asked for help and we gave regardless of our resources ?
Well, Santa won’t always dress up the traditional way. He does not have to descend from the chimney carrying a sack of gifts from the skies and ringing his little bell.
Santa’s voice doesn’t always have to be husky neither does he have to lift me up in his arms.
Santa could also test to see if I can give my widow’s mite. If I pass the test, I get the recognition I never bargained for as well as a generous serving of God’s grace.
Now this …
A rich man takes to the streets to test random people’s generosity by feigning broke and stranded with no money.
Few people failed the test. A number of others gave him out of their obvious meagre means. The rich man not only returned their dollar bills but blessed them a million times over.
I always love the New King James Version of the bible.
Makes scripture passages easy to understand while leaving me with the flavour of the real King James Version so I’m going to use it to illustrate this man’s act.
The two bible verses below are apt for this real life event.
Mark 12:41-44
New King James Version
The Widow’s Two Mites41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two [a]mites, which make a [b]quadrans. 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you thatthis poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.”
Proverbs 11:24-25 New King James Version 24 There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty. 25 The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself
