Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has ordered the immediate freezing of all state and local government accounts in the state.
Issued on Thursday, November 23, by the Commissioner for Finance, Asiwaju Asiru Idris, the directive prohibits any further disbursements from these accounts until further notice.
The statement accompanying the directive emphasizes the need for strict financial discipline and transparency within the state government.
According to the statement, “All Standing Orders and Investment Instructions are hereby Cancelled forthwith.
“All Kogi State and Local Government Accounts are hereby frozen with effect from today, Thursday 22nd November 2023.”
The statement explicitly cancels all existing Standing Orders and Investment Instructions related to government funds. This comprehensive freeze aims to prevent any unauthorised withdrawals or fund transfers.
