The newly-emerged flag bearer in the just-concluded All Progressives Congress, (APC) primary election, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has told the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, that he can now lick his wounds.
Tinubu said this in his victory speech after he was declared winner of the party’s presidential contest ahead of the 2023 general election.
He said he was slightly agitated that the Senate President Ahmed Lawan contested the position with him, but hailed the lawmaker for being cool-headed and doing his best service to the nation at the Senate.
“I’m a little agitated that you contested agitated me, but thank you, you can now lick your wounds.”
Tinubu polled 1,271 votes to defeat his closest rival, Rotimi Amaechi, who polled 316.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, came 3rd with 235 votes
