Nyesom Wike was today, hosted by Channels Television’s Seun Okinbaloye on #PoliticsToday where he gave insights into reasons Peter Obi lost in the 2023 presidential election.

Seun asked Wike why Peter Obi, a Southerner lost in spite of Wike’s vow that the position must go to the South.

The former Rivers State Governor said he knew that he (Peter Obi) wouldn’t win the election.

Seun then asked: “Are you surprised at how much votes Peter Obi got?

Wike: “I was not surprised…we have this generational change. The young people said we are tired.
The only hope they were having was going to Obi as a young person or as a younger person compared to other candidates, but unknown to them, that’s not the reality of Nigerian politics. They failed to recognize that ethnicity and religion are factors and not only competence. That is the reality of Nigerian politics.

“I’m a realist. You should praise INEC because it was a tough election. You can be a good person but the reality on ground may not be favourable to you.

I always tell my people, don’t allow too much social media influence because so much lies were told.
